I have a 3 door mk2 golf syncro, imported from germany. Please read the information below FULLY before asking questions.
ENGINE
The engine and gearbox have been removed, ready for your conversion. It had a fuel injected 1.8 8v gti lump in it. Exhaust is still on the car. Also had a cat, but you wont need it.
DRIVETRAIN
I will supply a late rallye gearbox with new sachs clutch and lightened g60 flywheel, ready for your high powered conversion. This drivetrain is good for approx 320bhp. I will also supply a corrado hydaulic pedal box, along with clutch master, slave and reverse light switch that sits on gearbox. Also the original driveshafts will be supplied with new inner and outer cv joints, the inners are 100mm g60 items to fit rallye gearbox. The rear is untouched and still in one piece with driveshafts and diff and propshaft. A rallye cable change shifter has been sourced and is supplied.
RHD POWER STEERING CONVERSION
These syncros were originally LHD, however I have sourced all the RHD parts including powersteering rack, pump and dashboard.
WIRING LOOM
The loom still in the car has been labelled as this needs to be flipped over for RHD.
INTERIOR
The original gti interior will be supplied. The carpet is BLACK taken from a rallye including black headlining, just needs black sunroof lining to finish. There is a thick black carpet in the boot. Also a spare set of black leather rallye doorcards and speaker pods comes with the car
BODY
The body is in good condition but for a proper project. The bonnet has been removed as have the 87 doors. I will supply 2 good condition 90 spec doors with electric window mechanism´s, which as you know have the one piece door glass (green tint) that the original ones did not. I believe all the glass is green tint. The rear tailgate is rusty so was going to replace but still on the car. I have big bumpers and an extra rear bumper supplied with the sale. A new central locking kit is supplied also. The LHD dash has been removed and all soundproofing in footwell for RHD conversion. I am supplying RHD dash.
ENGINE BAY
Rain tray removed, paint and sealer removed, and rust also removed, treated with rust protector and is sitting under covers in my garage.
BRAKING AND SUSPENSION
Comes with original front brakes and suspension. The rear beam is in tact, with original drums, etc. I will be supplying complete rear disk conversion with mk4 brake calipers, new disks and pads and handbrake cables. The front hubs and suspension are off the car but will be supplied. I think I also have some new wheel bearings for them. As already mentioned the 4wd setup has not been touched and are still attached to the car. I will also supply the brake servo and master cylinder, with a brake fluid reservoir which has an extra nipple to supply the hyraulic clutch, all of the corrado g60 that i got the pedal box from.
V5 DOCUMENT, KEYS and HISTORY
I am the current owner, I have a service book of history and also one of the original advertising books supplied by VW about the car. It was imported from Germany by Chris s of this site for a member of his family, and later passed to another owner who then sold it to me. I ran the car on the road before undertaking the project.
LOCATION AND CONTACT DETAILS
I am based in S.London in Crystal Palace. The car will need to be towed. As long as the front of the car is lifted up, it can be wheeled away as the rear is intact. I have kept the handbrake off so the rear would not seize. You can email me or reply here if your interested, alternatively you can call me on 07983 401 605
PRICE AND PART EXCHANGE
I am asking for £1600 for everything listed here. It is easily worth far more than this. The parts would cost you in excess of £2500 plus the time and information to source them and of course to try and source a 3 door syncro from Germany, so grab yourself a bargain. In terms of part exchange, anything VAG in fully working condition and good paint will be considered but please email me to ask.
EXTRAS
I can supply a full set of new vibratechnic engine mounts for your conversion for £225. These include road mounts rear and vr6 mount for the front, which i was going to use for 1.8t conversion. I also have a new rear mount housing, so you can space the block from the brake master cylinder and servo £60. And 2 sets of porsche d90 wheels, in 6″ and 8 ” for £180 each set to the purchaser.
I can’t believe you still have not sold this.
As I said a week or two ago back – if I didn’t have the G60 Syncro, I’d have bitten your hand off.
Trev
It rolls..
well only the engine bay is dismantled, the front seats are out for easy access to the dash, the loom was removed from the engine bay and ready to be flipped and labelled, i have refitted the front suspension and hubs, so can be towed, with the rhd pas rack bolted into place with new nuts and bolts. Needs hole in bulkhead to attach steering wheel.
Diamond your comments of “Whatever happened to the big project then? I thought this was going to be THIS powerful and THIS fast?!”, really mate, u should take the cr@p out of your eyes and at least attempt behave appropriately for someone holding the responsibility of moderating this forum.
The reason i stopped was because of marriage expenses and new work. I took the project on with the mind to restore to show car standard, replacing any rusty/worn parts. The 1.8t was ready to go in but bodywork needed some welding prepping and paint, something i couldnt afford/or have time to do, hence sale. Took a long time to get this stuff together, so really would suit someone wanting to save themselves all the hassle.
